What is Reflexology?

Working on hands and feet is an ancient art practiced by all cultures.  Reflexology, as we know it today, started in the 1920's, and, is based on the work of two American physicians, Dr. Fitzgerald and Dr. Riley, who called it "Zone Therapy" and used it primarily as pain relief. Physiotherapist, Eunice D. Ingham, developed their knowledge into a broader therapy, calling it Foot Reflexology.  Eunice found that 'alternating' pressure produced gratifying results for health and wellbeing beyond pain relief.  She devoted her life to researching, practicing, and then educating people about reflexology.   She took it to the public in the late 1930's and started a Reflexology School, in Florida.  She created a "map" of the body on the feet, showing the various reflex points.

Reflexology is based on the premise that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet, hands and outer ears corresponding to all glands, organs, parts and systems of the body.     Foot reflexology is well known, however, hand and outer ear reflexology are also very effective.   In 1957, Paul Nogier MD, from France, discovered a "map" resembling the shape of the human body on the outer ear.

How does it Work?

The physical act of applying specific alternating pressure using thumb, finger and hand techniques result in stress reduction which causes a physiological change in the body.   It will be a gentle, but firm, pressure within your comfort zone.

What are the Benefits?

Many health problems result from stress, which creates imbalances through a build up of toxins, inhibiting the free flow of energy essential to our well being.  Reflexology is an easy way to interrupt the stress signal, which will:

·         Induce a state of relaxation         ·         Help to cleanse the body of toxins         .        Marketing Your New Business

·         Improve circulation                       ·         Regulate body functions

·         Create order, harmony and balance within your body
